Our legs
2012
Nylon stockings, fabric, thread, handicraft cotton, cosmetics, baby powder
90×74×24 cm
This work was created early in the process of her awareness of the sublimation of the inner conflict she felt with her female relatives.
The fabric is so full of sewn thread it is obscured.
On it the words “aunt,” “coz,” “grandma,” and “mom” are written.
The parts of the body that symbolize femininity are scribbled on with automatic writing. As a whole, this piece is tinged with the act of sewing itself as a pathology close to hysteric possessive behavior.
The lower extremities imply the characteristics of the genetic disease on her maternal side.
The position of the hands express intent prayer while at the same time they have been entrusted with bringing to mind the posture at the time of death.
